Swanson, Marvin C., St. Peters, Missouri, 76, died 10:40 PM, Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Garden View Nursing Home, O'Fallon, Missouri following a long illness. He leaves his three children; Eric, Kirsten and Karen Swanson; five grandchildren: Erica, Elisa, and Carl Swanson; and Garrick and Gabrielle Kourany. Also, he leaves his brother Paul and his wife Dolores of Rockford, IL, his sister Charma Pascarelli of Park Forest, IL and his brother Charles and his wife Nina of Kingsport, TN.

Born in Chicago Heights, IL, of Olive and John Peter Swanson, Marvin graduated from Bloom Township High School in Chicago Heights and furthered his education at Simpson College, Indiananola, IA with a B.A. degree. From there, he earned a Master's Degree of Divinity and a Ph.D. from Boston University School of Theology in May, 1964.

Marvin spent most of career in higher education, serving as Chaplain, Associate Dean and Director of International Relations at DePauw University, Greencastle, IN from 1968 to 1980

From there, Marvin moved to Cape Girardeau, MO, where he served as Director of International Programs from 1986 to 1992 at Southeast Missouri State University. In 1992 Marvin retired from higher education and formed his own foundation, Cultural Exchange Network.

During his retirement, Marvin, an excellent carpenter, was able to devote full time to his hobby of woodworking.
